Charlie Troell

BCFE Team Lead - Data Recovery

Detective Charlie Troell is a retired US Army Reserve Military Police Company First Sergeant. Detective Troell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Florida. In October 1993, Detective Troell became employed by the Orlando Police Department in the capacity of a law enforcement officer. In January 2000 he accepted assignment to the Criminal Investigations Division as a detective of the Economic Crime Unit. Detective Troell was also responsible for the investigation of computer-related crimes as well as various types of fraud. In May 2000 Detective Troell completed the IACIS Basic Course and was certified to seize electronic evidence and in 2002 was awarded the CFCE. ‚Äč

Since 2007 Detective Troell has served as an instructor for the Central Florida Criminal Justice Institute for the courses Computer Crimes Investigation as well as Computers and Technology in Criminal Justice. Since 2007 Detective Troell has served as a CFCE Coach. In June of 2008 Detective Troell was assigned full time as the senior digital forensic examiner for the Orlando Police Department. In 2010 Detective Troell was awarded a Masters of Science in Digital Forensics Degree from the University of Central Florida. Detective Troell served as a topic developer, instructor and table coach for the 2010, 2011, and 2012 IACIS Basic US training event. At the 2011 US Training Event I was selected to join the Training Committee as the BCFE Topic Lead for the Data Recovery and Analysis area. Detective Troell also served as an instructor and staff member for the 2012 IACIS BCFE Germany training event.
