John Keary – New York, USA

Volunteer since 2002 in the areas of Certification, Training, and Online Training.

John strongly believes that any role as a volunteer for IACIS strengthens the organization.  He finds that it’s a natural transition to want to give back after receiving so much assistance as a new member.   John has served in multiple ways for IACIS, including dedicating his time as a peer review coach, as a training staff member, and for the online training team.

John retired after serving almost 35 years as a Trooper, Detective and Investigator for both State and County law enforcement agencies. His first computer case in the 1990s involved the unauthorized access of a University computer system in the state of Washington via dial-up by miscreants in New York.  Yes, DIAL-UP! Since retiring, John loves making his own beer, wine, and cordials, especially limoncello. He also creates elaborate meals, mostly with a sous vide machine and smoker. Although an avid golfer, his high handicap suggests he plays mainly at courses that have a windmill and/or clown’s mouth.  Additionally, John would rather watch paint dry or figure skating before watching golf on TV.
